Mass Spectrometry Core Facility at the BOKU

At the Cellular Analysis Core Facility advanced facilities for cell sorting and analysis enable studies in all “-omics” fields at one single location. High-speed cell sorting allows the isolation of desired cell types. Nano-LC-MS/MS is used for studies requiring proteomics and glycoproteomics data, while LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, and high-resolution mass spectrometry platforms serve studies within the field of metabolomics.

Studies at Cellular Analysis focus on metabolomics and fluxomics for a wide range of applications. Within metabolomics, the major aims are targeted metabolic profiling of selected metabolites and the non-targeted analysis of all metabolites present in a biological system or compartment. Within fluxomics, which addresses the quantitative assessment of molecular fluxes in a biological system, the goal is the accurate determination of isotopologue or isotopomer ratios for the metabolites of interest.
